Bristol Town Beach Bristol Town Beach Water Quality Improvements - Bristol, RI

Funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (the stimulus package) and the Rhode Island State Revolving Fund Program, this project proposed various innovative water quality improvements to the Town's beach. Such low-impact design incorporates bio retention swales, rain gardens and strategic plantings to treat pavement run-off and to reduce geese pollution.

The Gifford Design Group, Inc. collaborated with Breaking Ground, LLC, a local skatepark design firm, and prepared plans and specifications for this facility. In addition to the skatepark, new basketball and tennis courts, as well as skatable plaza area were designed. Construction for the facility began in July 2009, and was completed three (3) months later in October.
